A beta of Jeff Sayre’s BuddyPress Privacy Component has been installed. Please test this and verify it works as much as possible.

Is there a link to the page for this so we know what it is and can test stuff out?

    • DJPaul 12:42 pm on December 6, 2009 Permalink

At the minute there is not much documentation for the Privacy Component testing as it is a beta release, but the settings are accessed from i.e. http://dangerous-minds.org/members/thefathermind/privacy/

Yea this has some issues. If I switch to the User list then try to switch to something else a popup comes up annoying me telling me the list is not complete before I can select something new on the dropdown. Also the background is white but the text is not hardcoded so the windows black theme with white text causes white on white text. All that aside this is an AWESOME plugin. Great idea. Kudos to Jeff.

I’ve put a comment on his site (pending moderation at the moment) linking to here so if we get any more feedback hopefully Jeff will click through. Hopefully I’ll have time to have a proper test of it soon.

      @thefathermind

This is a javascript issue. The function does a check to make sure that some content is populating the field if a user has selected “These Users”. You cannot have a blank userlist.

I can remove that message. It is just a friendly, proactive notification. If a user keeps that selection and does not enter anything in the list, the verification function will automatically keep the previously selected privacy level. If a user does enter something in the list, but it does not pass verification, it will be removed.

Is there any way that I can get this to work on buddypress version 1.0.2?

    • DJPaul 11:11 pm on August 18, 2009 Permalink

Hi Nate, thanks for writing. I don’t know, I haven’t tried running it on 1.0.2. What problems are you having? If you have a error message in your web server log, that would be useful.

Hi Paul… sorry to write you with troubles, but I installed Achievements on Buddypress/Wordpres MU older versions and I unistall it and update both platforms to their latest editions so that your plugin works as you plan. The thing is that on the installa/unistall process I deleted manually the database tables related to your plugin, and when I try to install it now, the tables don´t show up on the database.

    • DJPaul 8:32 am on August 22, 2009 Permalink

      Hello David
Happy to help. Go in to your database, in the wp_sitemeta table, and delete the record with the ‘meta_key’ of ‘dpa_db_version’.

Your plugin crashed my entire site! I’m going to lose all my traffic if I can’t get it up and running again. Firt time using your plugin and so far “Not Recommended”.

      All that comes up is

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_blog_option() in /home/arathae/public_html/wp-content/plugins/achievements/dp-achievements.php on line 79

    • DJPaul 11:30 pm on October 6, 2009 Permalink

      Hi
This plugin requires BuddyPress, which requires WordPress MU. It looks as if you are running regular WordPress (not the MU version). Delete the achievements folder and visit /wp-admin/ on your site to “fix” it.

    • Sib 5:53 pm on October 27, 2009 Permalink

Hi, thanks for a wonderful plugin.

Installed this plugin for the very first time today, everything seems fine but I get a warning: “call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, was given in …./wp-includes/plugin.php”

We are using WPMU 2.8.4 and BP 1.1.2. How can we get this error fixed? Is it being caused by any of the other plugins? Or is it a version related issue?

      Thanks,
      Sib.

      Bruce
The plugin page says very clearly “Compatible up to: WPMU 2.8.6, BuddyPress 1.1.3″. It doesn’t say compatible with current versions of BuddyPress, or regular WordPress. I can see you aren’t running WP.

I also forgot this test blog was up, so I’ll take the site down at the weekend. My own blog is http://byotos.com/ FYI.

To fix your problem, rename wp-content/plugins/ to something else, then access wp-admin in your web browser. It will disable all plugins, but fix your problem. Then rename the plugins folder back and re-enable the plugins you want.

    • TheFatherMind 10:46 am on May 19, 2010 Permalink

Wow, AJ posted the exact same complaint word for word as Bruce on October 6 back in 2009. I hope his site has not been down that long.

    Site is on WPMU 2.8.4a.

Site is now running Achievements plugin. Visit your profile pages and look for ‘achievements’ in the left hand menu.
